Enchanted Magic Show

June 30, 2008

Ystrday I had the opportunity to witness a magic show - mayajaal. Its hosted by K.Lal & Junior Lal, here in Trichy @ devar hall. After the rush-hush, push& pull seat occupation scene, the show started. The lightening effects steal the crowd 4 a whole minute. There were several small & interesting items like disappearing bottle, a wine glass standing in air, an ever filled water pot. Suddenly they started 2 take umbrellas from head, mouth, from other umbrellas and from every where and have created a garden of umbrellaaaaas.

The most astonishing moment in the show is Mr. Lal cutting Mr. Junior into 2 halfs and they separate the two halfs in front of us. S. dude., really, the whole body is cut into 2 pieces & they r separated. We all know that its magic. Obviously, there should be a trick 2 perform that.

Buttt... visualizing the scene in reality without knowing the tricks, is awesome. The another show stealing item is a young girl with tied hands enters into a big wooden box. The girl is put into a sack and the sack is kept in a box. Then within a blink, Junior Lal gets into the box, while girl stands out in the crowd. I dint expect such a visual treat.

The great show marked its presence in Trichy...

Travelling in a train - that too in a reserved compartment

June 24, 2008

Last week I got in a train to go to Madras alias Chennai from Trichy. Traveling by train is itself a joy. That too a long travel, with confirmed seat (or berth) is quite njoyable . The thought of missing the station always disrupt us, especially in night. But v can rest ourselves, as the chai! chai!! chaya! sound from the t-vendors will surely wake us. There is no doubt in that. You can even miss the (destined) station but you can’t miss them… The foreign returned/foreigners may get irritated from these noises, but without that, train travel in India is quite unfulfilled. Amidst such a fulfilled travel, I noticed one thing. Passengers in a reserved compartment, r not interested to interact with co-passengers They r not willing to say a hello 2 fellow passengers or not even to look the nearby faces. The ‘I’m the king’ like mentality rules here. Whereas, in unreserved compartment, the travel starts with a quarrel always. That is damn sure. But as the time and train passes, they will become friendlier. They will help the nearby to look after the luggages, or for getting snacks, or for at least chatting through out the journey. And @ the end, they bid farewell, and will part ways. In some cases, the fight will continue tooo. But some how there will be a conversation. I couldn't’t find the reason behind that.

May be the “nothing needed/ everything provided/ its not my duty” is the reason 4 that mindset. Even though we njoy the luxurious compartments, there is no life in that. This seems to be apt for life too. By getting richer and luxurious we lost ourselves

Fuel price hike - and its possible alternatives for Trichy

June 7, 2008

The sky rocketing oil, gas and petrol prices bother us so much, and this is the high time for each and every individual to search for an alternative...

For reducing the petrol usage, the general suggestions for Public are:
1. Using public transport - more than ever.
The chance for this plan is only 50%. Since in each and every route, we dont hav that much public transports(either bus, train, share auto or mini buses.) That too in the tier III city like Trichy, it is highly impossible only.

2. Using bicycle for commuting.
For a long distance route, it may not be possible. But riding bicycle 4 some distance like up to bustop and then catching up the public transport vehicle is somewhat possible. (ore kalula rendu maanga. Excercise um achu, Petrol saving um achu...) Motor bikes can also be used in the same passion. Using bicycles for short distances like, to near by kiranas or maligai kadai or shops, to nearby places is highly possible.

3. Carpooling
In the vehicle sharing method - finding the apt partners along the same route as ours will be a tiresome process, as this is a new one to our Indian Community.

Some of the car pooling websites available are:
1. http://indimoto.com/
2. http://www.carpooling.in/
3. http://www.carpool.in/

Even though trichy - alias - trichirappalli - alias - tiruchi is not listed in these websites, u can try with ur bus stop friends and peers. Maintaining the time line, cooperating with others - on daily basis is highly neee.....eeeded for this. We can just give a try for this . Or at least, we can take up the car or bike only when all the seats are fully packed up, ...

For these to happen or possible, releasing more(at least 5 times more) buses (in every route) , setting up more bike and two wheeler stands in the cities and promoting the community (cycle or bike) programs, enforcing strict laws for carpooling , providing seperate lanes for bicycles in the roads are much needed from the authorities/ government side.

Trichy alias Tiruchirapalli - a tier III city

May 20, 2008

Yesterday, we went to an exhibition @ Ulavar santhai Ground, here in Trichy. (Actually, it was located in Alvarthopu ground,we went around ulavar santhai in srch of the exhibition and will write another blog for that)... Its filled with fancy stores, handicraft stores by Women self help group(magalir suya vudavi kuzhukal), vadai, Baji, appalam, sugarcane juice stalls and other standard exhibition stalls.

Giant wheels, columbus, Break dance (the chairs will spin, as if we were break dancing), helicopter like rotators, bikes and all kinds of "kudai ratinam" (small roller coasters) were there for entertainment. We njoyed every ratinam , whether its small or big. But for my astonishment, there is no crowd. Yes, i mean it, there is no crowd. In the giant wheel of 16 chairs, only 2 0r 3 chairs were filled 4 every round. This holds the same for all ratinams.

A rainy look alike evening, end of the school vacation(June 1st), presence of another exhibition in trichy - near ponmalai, lack of advertisement may be the reason for the low turn over. Actually i expect a huge crowd, since trichy lags in entertainment arena, that too for children. Apart from cinema halls, temples and the newly revamped ibrahim park (near chatiram bus stand), trichy kids has no place to go. But the exhibition showcases the spending nature of trichians. If it were in Chennai, a large number of turnover is a damn sure... But alas, its not chennai. Its only Trichy, a tier III city.
